The Dirichlet concentration \(a\) shared by every simplex coordinate.

Below one the Dirichlet piles mass on the faces of the simplex, so most local scales are near zero and a few carry the magnitude; the smaller the value the fewer. One half is the paper’s default. The minimax-rate results hold for \(a\) near \(1/m\) with \(m = k^2 p\) lag coefficients. Must be positive.
